Bangkok, 29 May 2014 - For the second year running, United Overseas Bank (Thai) PCL (UOB (Thai)) has been named the Best Service Provider in Trade Finance, Thailand, by Hong Kong-based financial publication, The Asset .
UOB (Thai) was also recognised for providing the best structured trade finance solution for Thai Financial Institutions by The Asset.
The Asset highlighted UOB Group’s extensive branch network in Asia and strong relationships with correspondent banks across the region as its key competitive edge. They have enabled the Bank to support the supply chain and trading activities of its clients seamlessly and effectively across the region.
The Asset was also impressed with UOB’s Business Internet Banking (BIB) - an online system which allows clients to conveniently conduct and track their cross-border trade transactions electronically.
Ms. Patchanee Vongsilpawattana, Executive Director of Transaction Banking, UOB (Thai), said UOB’s strong regional network and robust online system is complemented by the Bank’s experienced team of local trade advisers.
“As many of our trade advisers have more than 20 years of experience helping Thai companies manage cross-border trade flows, they have an intimate understanding of their clients’ business needs and can tailor trade finance solutions to help them reduce business costs and risks, such as late payments and insufficient liquidity.”
The Asset Triple A Awards are organised annually by The Asset Publishing and Research Ltd. The awards seek to recognise banks that provide the best supply chain financing solutions and cross-border trade settlement in the industry.
The latest trade finance awards received by UOB (Thai) add to the list of awards the Bank has won recently. Last year, UOB Group received 74 awards that cover banking products and services ranging from investment and commercial banking to wealth management, financial products and mobile banking.
