Terms and Conditions

  1. The applicant must commence trip from Thailand and conclude trip in Thailand only.
  2. The insured must be a resident of Thailand.
  3. The applicant must be in good health and free from disability.
  4. The applicant may hold only one insurance policy at a time.
  5. The insured must be enrolled in a recognised educational institution abroad, including vocational education.

Important Exceptions

  • The policy does not provide coverage in the following cases:
    1. Suicide, attempted suicide, or any self-inflicted injury by the insured.
    2. Any pre-existing conditions.
    3. While the Insured is under the influence of alcohol, drugs or addictive substances.
    4. War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities or warlike operations, civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, civil commotion assuming the proportions of or amounting to an uprising, military or usurped power, any act of terrorism.
    5. While the insured is performing duty as a pilot, crew member, a member of armed forces or police or as a volunteer and engaged in war or crime suppression.
    6. While the insured is participating in or practicing for or competing in professional sports.
    7. While the insured is working in a high-risk environment such as high-rise building, oil or gas rigs, underground mines or engaging in labour-intensive tasks such as fishery, construction, fruit picking or operating heavy machineries.

    This Insurance Policy does not cover person(s) travelling to or within the following countries:

    • Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Cuba, Iraq, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Nicaragua, North Korea, Pakistan, Palestine, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Nepal (excluding Climbing & Trekking purpose only), Russia, Ukraine

Additional Clarifications

  • Coverage
    • Section 1: Medical expenses from injuries and illnesses, including medical expenses in Thailand that occur within 90 days in the case of temporary return and having to travel back to continue studying, not exceeding THB 200,000. This coverage is only applicable to insurance plans for 1 year or more.
    • Section 3: Including vehicle fares, accommodation costs, and necessary food costs, not exceeding 5,000 baht per day or not exceeding THB 50,000 per incident.
    • Section 5, 6: The sum insured for emergency medical evacuation or relocation back to Thailand and repatriation of the body back to Thailand shall not exceed the sum insured specified.
      If it is found that the insured is injured or sick or dies from a condition that existed before the insurance (pre-existing conditions), the company will provide coverage under this coverage agreement, totalling not more than 5% of the sum insured specified in the insurance policy table (which is considered part of the sum insured for emergency medical evacuation or relocation back to Thailand, Section 5, and repatriation of the body back to Thailand, Section 6).
    • Section 7: No deductible.
    • Section 2-6, 8, 11: Any one occurrence and any one policy period.
    • Section 1, 7, 9, 10: Any one occurrence.

United Overseas Bank (Thai) PCL is only a non-life insurance broker (Non-life insurance license number ว00020/2546). It serves to point out channels and manage people to enter non-life insurance contracts only (for sales channel via UOB staff at UOB branch) or publicised details only (for sales via online channels). The insurance products are insured by MSIG Insurance (Thailand) PCL which is responsible for conditions, coverages and benefits according to the conditions specified in the insurance policy.

The applicant must study coverage details and conditions before applying for the insurance policy.

FAQ

Applicants must be between 13-50 years old with eligibility criteria as follows:-

  • Must be residents of Thailand and commence their travel from Thailand only.
  • Must be accepted as a student in a regular or exchange programme at a recognised institution such as a secondary school, college, university, vocational institute, or language school.
  • The educational institution must be registered and accredited by the relevant government authority in the destination country.
  • The purpose must not be for employment.

This insurance cannot be purchased as the applicant must begin their journey from Thailand only.

The insurance policy provides coverage for medical expenses resulting from injury or illness, including treatment received in Thailand within 90 days, in cases where the insured temporarily returns home and plans to resume studies abroad. Coverage is limited to a maximum of THB 200,000 and applies only to insurance plans with a minimum duration of one year.

The Company shall compensate for tuition fees already paid and non-refundable, as evidenced by official receipts, for the academic term in which the insured is unable to complete their studies and must withdraw due to any of the following circumstances:

  • Hospitalisation as an inpatient for more than 30 consecutive days due to injury from an accident or illness not excluded under the policy.
  • Emergency medical evacuation or repatriation to Thailand for treatment.
  • Death of a family member (spouse, child, sibling, parent of the insured, or parent of the insured’s spouse).
  • Diagnosis of a critical illness including stroke (haemorrhagic or ischemic), coma, brain death and neurological failure, or terminal illness.

An applicant is permitted to purchase only one insurance policy at the same time period.
