United Overseas Bank (Thai) Public Company Limited (UOB (Thai)) saw a high turnout of more than 3,000 colleagues and their family members, customers and business partners at its ninth UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk. More than 2.4 million baht was raised for local charities as part of the annual activity.

The UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk is the Bank’s main fundraising and volunteering event in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. It focuses on art, children and education and promotes greater partnership, philanthropy and participation to help strengthen community bonds.

The funds raised this year will be used to support two beneficiaries that help children from challenging socio-economic backgrounds realise their potential through education. The beneficiaries are Phra Dabos School under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the Child and Youth Development Project in Remote Areas, the initiative of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Mr Tan Choon Hin, President and Chief Executive Officer of UOB (Thai), who participated in the four-kilometre fun run, said, “The UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk brings together our colleagues, their families, customers and business partners with the common aim to broaden the educational opportunities for less privileged children and youth. I believe that the unity and strong commitment to keep the good going will help make a significant difference to the lives of others.”

The UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk was held simultaneously in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. In all, more than 19,000 UOB colleagues, their families, UOB customers and business partners participated in the event across the region to raise total of S$1.58 million for local beneficiaries.
