UOB (Thai) offers complimentary virtual training programme
on digital transformation to help SMES through COVID19

Online courses aim to address SMEs immediate needs and to sustain their business post-pandemic

United Overseas Bank (Thai) (UOB (Thai)) is intensifying its support to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to help them navigate through COVID-19 challenges by offering a complimentary virtual training programme on digital transformation.

In collaboration with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), The Association of Thai Software Industry (ATSI), Line Thailand, Shopee and The FinLab, the training programme will commence on 5 June 2020 and comprises a total of 12 online courses.

Each online course runs for one to two hours and will enable SMEs to gain insights into the “new normal” business and social environment COVID-19 has created. For instance, given the growth in online spending during the pandemic, SMEs will learn how to use digital solutions to attract customers through better digital marketing, content management and customer relationship management.

As part of preparing their business for recovery, SMEs will also learn how to accelerate their digital transformation for greater business efficiency. For example, UOB BizSmart, an integrated suite of cloud-based business solutions can help SMEs to manage digitally processes such as accounting, invoicing, employee and payroll management. UOB’s innovation accelerator, The FinLab, will also connect the SMEs with suitable technology solution providers to help them implement relevant digital solutions to seize opportunities. UOB (Thai) will also run a course on overseas expansion strategies and opportunities as the region gradually resumes economic activities. 

According to the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion, the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a 120 billion baht loss in income for Thai SMEs as at April this year.  As such, many SME owners recognise the need to react quickly and to adjust their strategies and plans so that they can sustain their businesses.

The virtual training programme is part of UOB (Thai)’s ongoing initiative to support SMEs in their digital transformation. Previous training sessions were conducted through in-person seminars at InnovTown, powered by UOB (Thai).
