UOB Thailand joins Government Co-Payment job creation scheme

Bank commits to hire fresh graduates as digital banking customer support officers

UOB Thailand has joined the Government Co-Payment job creation scheme, committing to offer employment opportunities for fresh graduates. As part of the scheme,  the government will subsidise 50 per cent of the salaries for these new hires up to 30 September 2021.

The Bank will hire fresh graduates from the class of 2019 and 2020 as digital banking customer support officers, with responsibilities that include managing customer enquiries through live chat. These roles will help to support the Bank as it grows its digital banking business and continues to enhance the customer engagement experience.

Ms Sasiwimol Arayawattanapong, Executive Director, Country Head of Human Resources, UOB (Thai), said, “The prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected economic growth and employment opportunities. As a result, fresh graduates are facing muted job prospects and a delayed start to their career after many years of study. At UOB Thailand, we are steadfast in our commitment to contributing to Thailand’s social and economic well-being for the long term. In joining the government’s co-payment scheme for new hires, we hope to help ease the impact of COVID-19 on fresh graduates and give them a solid start to their career prospects while also meeting our business’ needs.”

According to the Education Ministry, new graduates are struggling to find jobs as the health crisis is pushing the country’s economy into recession with about 500,000 jobless new graduates, which equates to about 95 per cent of the entire cohort this year. By December 2020, there may be 300,000 more new graduates entering the job market.

New graduates keen to work at UOB Thailand can register at www.จ้างงานเด็กจบใหม่.com before joining the UOB Open House on 14 November 2020. Interested candidates can submit their job applications and will be able to have an interview with a line manager on that day. Eligible candidates will be hired on a fixed term contract to 30 September 2021.
