UOB Thailand extends THB 1.32 billion in green loans to Chow Energy
for solar development projects

UOB Thailand has provided Chow Energy with a total of 1.32 billion baht to fund solar energy development projects for residential, commercial and industrial properties across the country.

The development projects include the installation, operation, and maintenance of solar PV systems on the rooftops of 961 residences and 1,234 commercial and industrial buildings. Every year, these projects will generate approximately 48MWp of clean electricity and reduce carbon emissions by 27,900 tonnes - the equivalent of planting over one million trees.

Mr Andy Cheah, Country Head of Wholesale Banking, UOB Thailand, said, “As a financial services provider, we are a catalyst and enabler of the transition to a low-carbon society.  We are confident that our financial assistance will help Chow Energy and its clients to achieve their long-term sustainability goals and lower their dependence on fossil fuels.”

The green financing agreement with Chow Energy is part of UOB Thailand’s U-Solar programme, a one-stop financing platform to power the adoption of renewable energy across the country. Through the programme, which was launched in 2020, the Bank connects businesses and consumers across the entire solar power value chain and helps them to transition to low-carbon energy.

Mr Anavin Jiratomsiri, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Chow Energy Public Company Limited, said, “We are committed to fostering a more sustainable future with our energy solutions. As a result of our partnership with UOB Thailand, we are now able to provide our services to a larger variety of clients who are keen to adopt and reap the benefits of greener and cleaner energy.”

Chow Energy Public Company Limited holds shares of various companies engaged in the generation and sale of electricity from various energy sources. The company is continually expanding its renewable energy business both domestically and internationally.
