UOB Thailand has recently won two prestigious awards for its sustainability commitment and expertise, including Best Bank for ESG in Thailand at Asiamoney Banking Awards 2023 and Thailand International Green Finance Initiative of the Year award at Asian Banking and Finance (ABF) Wholesale Banking Award 2023.
UOB Thailand’s dedication to sustainability led them to establish a Corporate Sustainability Office and and appoint their first Chief Sustainability Officer in 2023.These accolades reflect UOB Thailand’s leadership and strategic vision in developing comprehensive sustainable finance frameworks that actively support businesses on their journey towards sustainability.

The Best Bank for ESG in Thailand award presented at the 2023 Asiamoney Best Bank Awards for Thailand recognises UOB Thailand’s strategic approaches to sustainable financing and their significant ESG impact on stakeholders. Asiamoney praised UOB’s focus on achieving its own Scope 1 emissions targets as well as indirect Scope 2 and 3 targets indirect emissions from its client portfolio. UOB’s approach comprises three aspects: decarbonising the bank; decarbonising clients; and thought leadership to address the sustainable financing gap in the Thai market.
UOB Thailand also received the Thailand International Green Finance Initiative of the Year award at Asian Banking and Finance (ABF) Wholesale Banking Award 2023. This award acknowledges comprehensive sustainable finance frameworks UOB Thailand has crafted specifically for its wholesale banking clients across real estate, green technology and waste management industries. ABF highlighted UOB Thailand’s transparent commitment to providing responsible and impactful financing solutions that align with internationally recognized standards.
UOB Thailand’s endeavours have tangible impacts. Noteworthy accomplishments include the UOB Phetkasem Building in 2019 and the recognition of UOB Plaza Bangkok with the BCA Green Mark Platinum Provisional Certificate which validates its energy-saving potential. These accomplishments echo the Bank’s commitment to reducing ecological footprints while promoting sustainable practices within its operations.
