  • Personal Accident insurance (PA) Type 2 entitlements and extended coverage for driver and passenger of motorcycle. The coverage is due to loss of life, dismemberment, loss of sight, loss of speech, loss of hearing or total permanent disability from murder and assault, but not covering medical expenses.
  • Critical illness insurance entitlements (Lump sum payout) double of the deposit amount, coverage up to 2 million baht. The coverage is for the detection of ischemic stroke, acute myocardial infarction from ischemia, chronic renal failure or coma. For the account holder who opens the account before 1 July 2022, the 4 critical illness insurance benefits will cover only the customer who has never been medical diagnosed with critical illnesses as specified before 1 July 2022.

Conditions for UOB Secure Savings Account
  1. Open an account with a minimum of 1,000 baht.
  2. The account holder receives personal accident insurance coverage according to the policy terms as follows.
    • The account holder must have a deposit balance of at least 3,000 baht one day prior to the accident date.
    • The account holder will be covered in the amount of 20 times of the deposit balance one day before the accident date, maximum coverage of 10 million baht per person, regardless of the number of UOB Secure accounts held.
    • The account holder who is over 70 years old at the account opening date will receive compensation 70% of the coverage amount but not exceeding 7,000,000 baht per person.
    • The account holder may specify the beneficiary's name in the account opening form.
  3. The account holder will be covered from 4 critical illnesses under the policy terms as follows.
    • The account holder must be in good health and has never had a critical illness before, including a medical history and the conditions specified by the insurer in the critical illness insurance application.
    • The account holder must have a balance more than 500,000 baht one day prior to the date of the medical diagnosis of critical illness.
    • The account holder will be covered in the amount of 2 times of the deposit balance one day before the doctor’s diagnosis of critical illness.   Maximum coverage of 2 million baht per person, regardless of the number of UOB Secure accounts held.
    • The coverage for 4 critical illnesses namely: ischemic stroke, acute myocardial infarction from ischemia, chronic renal failure and coma will begin after 90 days from the account opening date (due to 90 days waiting period). The account holder is the beneficiary.
    • 4 critical illness coverage is limited for the account holder who is not over 65 years only.
      The account holder over 65 years old as of the account opening date will not be covered. For the account holder under the age of 65 as of the account opening date and later reaching the age of 65, the coverage will end.
  4. Earn the deposit interest at the end of June and December.
  5. Deposit interest rates and terms are as announced by the Bank.
  6. This deposit is protected by the Deposit Protection Agency in the amount stipulated by law.
  7. The value of insurance premiums is equivalent to the interest rate that increases approximately 0.50% per year as of 1 July 2022.
  8. The Bank pays insurance premiums. The account holder is the insured person. For accident coverage, the account holder has the right to designate a third party or the account holder as the beneficiary. As to coverage for 4 critical illnesses, the account holder is the beneficiary only.  This coverage is under the group non-life insurance policy, UOB Secure Savings account. Thaivivat Insurance Public Company Limited takes responsibility under the terms of coverage and benefits according to conditions.
  9. If the account holder has more than one UOB Secure Savings account, the amount of accident coverage will be calculated from the accounts with a deposit balance more than 3,000 baht combined. The maximum coverage amount will not exceed 10 million baht per person. Forthe amount of coverage of 4 critical illnesses, the coverage will be calculated from the account with a deposit balance of more than 500,000 baht of all accounts combined. The maximum coverage amount will not exceed 2 million baht per person.
  10. For opening a joint account more than one account holder and not specifying the beneficiaries’ proportion to be received, the personal accident coverage will be calculated from the account with a deposit balance more than 3,000 baht divided by the numbers of joint account holders. Each person will be compensated in the amount of 20 times the proportion of each person calculated from division by the number of joint deposit account holders against the coverage amount, but not more than 10 million baht per account, regardless of the number of joint account holders.
    For the amount of coverage for 4 critical illnesses, the coverage will be calculated from the account with a deposit balance of more than 500,000 baht divided by the number of joint account holders. Each person will be compensated in the amount of 2 times the proportion of each person calculated from division by the number of deposit account holders against the coverage amount, but not more than 2 million baht per account, regardless of the number of joint account holders.
  11. Claim for compensation is filing at the account opening branch by preparing the claim documents. (Please check documents for claiming and details of the coverage terms.)
  12. About the deposit account that has been inactive for more than 1 year and having a deposit balance of less than 5,000 baht, the Bank will charge 100 baht/month per 1 account for account maintenance according to the bank’s announcement on 1 October 2018. Please review various fees related to deposits from the Bank's website by clicking or notice posted at every bank’s branches.

  • If you close UOB Secure Savings account and then re-open a new UOB Secure Savings account, a 90-day waiting period from account opening date applies for critical illness coverage.
  • The account holder must submit a health statement and give consent in the insurance application document for the group critical illness insurance policy of the insurer completely as required by the insurer to maintain benefits for claiming compensation. In case of the account holder’s refusal, the account holder will not be covered for 4 critical illnesses, but will be covered by accident insurance only. Health information declaration is one factor in considering underwriting or payment according to the insurance contract.
